checkered flag

not enough time to think
the sands in my hour glass
are running low
I almost figured it out
then something came up
and I had to go

a hiatus please
a momentary time freeze
pause, hold on
I just need a moment
everything could line up
if I put it in its place
but the checkered flag
is not until the end of the race

i understand the importance
of setting pace
and enjoying the view
the water stops are refreshing
the trail is bending
the sky is a golden blue
